Obama’s internet-based fundraising breaks record
Read an interesting piece by Bob Ostertag in The Huffington Post recently. He was commenting on how the Obama campaign had harnessed the power of the internet to provide a vehicle for accepting campaign donations requested in the $25-$50 range. (Not unlike the small requests we ask of our SMARTSTART|Giving supporters.)
Seems things are going so well, sources from Obama’s campaign think he could bring in $100M in June alone! This gives me hope Alex and I are really onto something!
To put this power of the internet into perspective, Bob notes in 2004 Bush raised $367M, an historic record. Obama will raise more than that with his Internet money machine before the convention.
Our numbers are a long way from Obama’s, as you can see on our Loans page. However, we’re just ordinary people, not nominees for a history-making presidential race, so we’ll just have to be patient and stay our course.
The point is, internet-based micro-fundraising campaign strategies are more than just viable, they’re darned effective when properly run and promoted. So that’s our plan. And we’re glad to have you with us for the ride!
